Train your own team: courses, supervisors and learners

Make a course for your own staff and apprentices, share its link, add supervisors, and close it when you're done.

Training and classes · For owners, admins and supervisors · Updated 8 Oct 2026

A course is training for your own people: your technicians, apprentices and engineers work through Kelvin's modules, and a supervisor checks each hand-in and signs it off. It lives in the same space as TAFE classes, your classes: Training in the rail opens it.

Your learners never join your firm. They join only the course, with their own accounts, so they see none of your firm's projects, jobs or clients: only their own tasks and sign-offs.

Make a course

  1. 1

Open Training in the rail, then choose New class.

  2. 2

Under Who it’s for, choose Your own team.

  3. 3

Give it a Course name, such as the group it's for.

  4. 4

Choose Make the course. You become its supervisor, and the course page opens.

To make a course you need to be an owner, admin or engineer in your firm. Who a course is for can't be changed once it's made. A course has no term: your people work through it at their own pace, unless a task has a due date.

Share the course link

  1. 1

On the course page, under Course link, choose Make a link.

  2. 2

Choose Copy straight away, and send the link to your learners by email or in a message.

Kelvin keeps only a fingerprint of the link, so it can't show it again. If it wasn't copied, choose Make a new link: the old link then stops working. Close the link stops anyone new joining with it.

Kelvin's training is for people 18 or over for now: everyone who joins confirms it. Apprentices under 18 can't join a course yet.

Your learners

Learners appear under Learners as they join, by the name they gave. Each sees only their own work. Take off the course removes a learner and keeps their hand-ins and sign-offs, and Add back returns them.

Other supervisors

Under Supervisors, choose a colleague in Add a colleague as a supervisor, then Add. Supervisors are people in your firm. A supervisor sees every learner's hand-ins on the course and signs them off. Take off removes a supervisor, and Stop supervising it takes you off. A course always keeps at least one supervisor, and your firm's owners and admins can run any of its courses.

Course settings and closing the course

Under Course settings, Edit the name renames the course. Close the course, then Close it, closes its link so nobody new can join. Every hand-in and sign-off stays. Reopen the course lets you share a link again.

Setting tasks and signing them off are in Set tasks and sign them off, and every learner's progress is in The training record.

Note

Courses use Kelvin's own modules: an employer can't write its own questions or upload procedures. Each module is aligned to a unit of the national training package, but a course isn't nationally recognised training.
