A task is a set of questions from one of Kelvin's modules. Every learner gets their own figures, and Kelvin works out every answer with its working, so you check against Kelvin's answers rather than a key of your own.
Set a task
- 1
On the course page, choose Set a task.
- 2
Choose the Module. The Title starts as the module's title, and you can change it. Tick the Questions it carries.
- 3
Leave Due (optional) empty for a self-paced task, or set a date. Work handed in after a due date is accepted and marked late.
- 4
Under Refresher (optional), enter how many months after a sign-off the learner should do the task again, from 1 to 60, or leave it empty for none.
- 5
Under Kelvin’s answers and working, choose when learners see them: Once handed in, or Once you show a decision.
- 6
Add any Instructions (optional), then choose Set it.
Check a hand-in and sign it off
- 1
Open the task from Tasks on the course page. Learners lists where each learner is, how many answers are right, and when they handed in.
- 2
Choose Check beside a learner who has handed in. Their hand-in opens: each question with their answer beside Kelvin's, the check, and Kelvin's working.
- 3
Add a note under any question, if you want to.
- 4
Under Decision, choose Signed off or Needs another attempt, and write any Feedback to the learner.
- 5
Leave Show it to the learner now ticked for the learner to see it now, or untick it and choose Show the learner later.
- 6
Choose Save the decision.
A decision is never edited: checking again records a new one, the newest stands, and earlier ones stay on record. Needs another attempt gives the learner new figures for the same kinds of question.
Sign off what's right in one go
Under Sign off what's all right, Kelvin offers every hand-in waiting for a decision that its re-check finds right on every answer, with no figure changed since and nothing edited. Choose the offer, check the names, and choose Sign them off. Each one is your own sign-off, exactly as if you'd checked them one by one. Untick Show them to the learners now to show them later.
Kelvin re-checks every answer
Answers right and each question's Check are Kelvin's own re-check, made in your browser: it draws the learner's questions again and checks their answers against them. It never takes the checks a learner's browser kept with the hand-in, which could have been changed. If a kept check disagrees with Kelvin's, or a question's figures have changed since it was handed in, the hand-in says so and the score carries a warning mark.
Refreshers
On a task with a refresher, a sign-off falls due again that many months later. The learner then sees Start the refresher on the task and answers it with new figures, and you sign it off as before. Until then they can't start another attempt. A refresher is never marked late against the task's due date.
Export the sign-offs
Export sign-offs (CSV) downloads one row per learner, from their latest attempt, with Kelvin's re-checked answers right. For every task across your courses, see The training record.
