Join a firm from an invite

Accept a colleague's invitation: open the link while signed in with the address it was sent to, and what to do when it's refused.

Getting started · Updated 7 Oct 2026

When a firm's owner or an admin invites you, Kelvin emails you a link. The invite is for one email address, gives you the role it was sent with, lasts 7 days, and works once.

  1. 1

Open the link in the invitation email.

  2. 2

If you aren't signed in, sign in with the address the invite was sent to. With no Kelvin account yet, choose Create one and create it with that address. Then open the link from the email a second time.

  3. 3

Kelvin takes up the invite as soon as the page opens and says which firm you've joined. Choose Go to the dashboard.

After you join

The firm's projects, calculations and reports are yours to work on, as far as your role allows. The firm's owner or an admin can change your role. See What each firm role can do.

If you already belonged to another firm, Kelvin keeps you working in that one. Switch when you want to work in the new firm: see Work in more than one firm.

Signing up from an invite

A new account finishes sign-up on Create a firm. Don't create one: open the invite link from the email again, and it adds you to the firm that invited you.

When the invite isn't accepted

The page says why, under Join a firm:

  • Sent to a different email address: sign in with the address the invite was sent to.
  • Expired or not valid: ask the firm to send a new one.
  • Already used: if you joined with it, you're in the firm already. If not, ask the firm for a new one.
  • Missing its invite code: the link was cut short. Ask the firm to send it again, and open it whole.
  • Email address not confirmed: confirm it with the code Kelvin emailed when you signed up, then open the invite link again.
  • Already a member: you're in that firm already.

Note

If the firm sends you a second invite, it replaces the first, so use the link in the latest email.
