Invite a colleague to your firm

Send an invitation from Settings → Members, choose the role it gives, and follow it until your colleague joins.

Getting started · For owners and admins · Updated 7 Oct 2026

Your firm's owners and admins bring colleagues in by email. Each invite is for one address and gives the role it was sent with.

  1. 1

    Open Settings → Members.

  2. 2

Under Pending invites, enter your colleague's Email address and choose their Role.

  3. 3

Choose Send invite. Kelvin emails them a link, and the invite joins the list below with the day it Expires.

What happens next

Your colleague opens the link while signed in with that address, or creates their Kelvin account with it first and then opens the link again. Once they join, the invite leaves Pending invites and they appear in Members with the role you chose.

An invite lasts 7 days and works once. One that runs out reads Expired: send another. Sending a new invite to the same address replaces the earlier one, so only the newest link works.

Choosing the role

See What each firm role can do. Only an owner can invite someone as an owner. You can change anyone's role later, in the same ledger.

When it doesn't send

  • The person is already a member: they're listed in Members already.
  • The invitation couldn't be emailed: check the address and send it again. Nothing was created.
  • Kelvin limits how many invitations a firm sends in a day. If it says the limit has been reached, try again later.

Note

Engineers and reviewers don't see the invite form. Ask your firm's owner or an admin to send one.
