Trace a site plan: background, scale and sketch

Put the site drawing under the pipe layout, set its scale so drawn lengths are real, and sketch walls, dimensions and labels.

  1. 1

Choose Upload background and pick the site plan: a PDF, SVG, PNG, JPEG or WebP. A PDF's first page is used, and a PDF or SVG is turned into a PNG before it's stored.

  2. 2

Choose Move background and drag the drawing into place. Drag its corner to resize it.

  3. 3

Choose Calibrate, click two points a known distance apart on the drawing, type that length in metres and choose Apply.

  4. 4

Or type the scale in metres per pixel straight into the cell under Scale.

Every drawn run's length is measured at this scale, so set it before you rely on the ledger's lengths. The plan's header shows the scale, and the key under the plan gives the grid in metres.

Sketch the plan

  • Where there's no drawing to trace, use Wall, Dimension and Text. Click wall corners and right-click or choose Finish wall to end; click two points for a dimension; click once to place a label, then type it.
  • Sketched lines are drawing only. They never enter the sizing.
  • Show plan hides or shows the sketch, and Clear plan removes all of it after asking.
  • Choose Pipes to go back to drawing runs.

Moving around the plan

Drag empty space to pan, and scroll to zoom. The buttons in the plan's corner zoom in and out, fit the view to the drawing, and go full screen.

Note

Remove background takes the drawing off the plan; the runs and evaporators stay where they are. Change background replaces it. If an upload fails, the page says why and the plan keeps the background it had.
