Library entries are signed off the way calculations are, so a figure copied into many projects has been checked against its datasheet by someone other than the engineer who entered it.
- 1
Open Settings → Your firm → Equipment library, choose the kind of equipment, and choose the entry's model name to open it.
- 2
Compare its figures with the datasheet. Choose the file name beside Datasheet to open the PDF.
- 3
Under Sign-off, choose Mark as checked. Kelvin signs it in your name and records the time itself.
- 4
An owner or admin then opens the entry and chooses Approve.
Who can sign
- Any member of the firm can check an entry, reviewers included, except the engineer who prepared it: whoever saved its current version. Your firm can allow engineers to check their own work under Settings → Your firm → Firm.
- Only owners and admins approve, and only an entry that has been checked.
- A checker can withdraw their own check with Withdraw check, and an owner or admin can withdraw either signature. Withdrawing a check withdraws the approval with it.
- The Status column reads Not checked, Checked, Approved or Inactive.
What clears the sign-off
Editing an entry, attaching a new datasheet, deactivating it or reactivating it clears both its check and its approval, so the changed entry is checked again. An edit saves a new version, and the version it replaces keeps its signatures in the entry's history.
Retiring an entry
- Deactivate stops the Equipment station offering the entry, and keeps its record and history. Reactivate offers it again.
- Owners and admins can Delete an entry, which removes it from the library.
- Either way, projects that copied the entry's figures keep them, and nothing already issued changes.
