Add equipment to your firm's library

Enter a model once from its manufacturer's datasheet, attach the PDF and confirm your firm's right to use it, so every project can reuse it.

Equipment and reference libraries · For owners, admins and engineers · Updated 7 Oct 2026

Your firm's equipment library holds the models its engineers have entered from manufacturers' datasheets, so each is entered once and reused on any project. It's under Settings → Your firm → Equipment library. The library is your firm's alone: no other firm sees it.

  1. 1

Choose the kind of equipment along the top of Library, such as Condensers.

  2. 2

Choose the add button for that kind (Add condenser, for example) and enter the model from its datasheet, with the document its figures come from.

  3. 3

Under Datasheet and rights, attach the datasheet PDF if you have it, confirm your firm's right to use the figures, and choose Add to library.

What the entry sheet asks for

  • Product: the manufacturer and the model.
  • Source: the document the figures come from, its edition or date, and the page or table. Reports cite it.
  • The rating exactly as the datasheet publishes it, with the conditions it's rated at.
  • The physical figures Energy, Refrigerant Charge and BOM & Running Cost read, such as fans, fan power and charge, where the datasheet gives them.

Leave a figure blank if the datasheet doesn't give it; a blank is never read as zero. The sheet won't save until the entry has what Kelvin needs to judge the model, and lists anything missing.

Kelvin applies only the corrections a datasheet publishes. A capacity is scaled to other TDs only if you choose Linear with TD, as published, and a model is judged on a refrigerant other than its rating refrigerant only with a Published factor for it.

A condenser can also carry its Rating at a higher fan speed, which Energy uses to work out what faster EC fans save: see Compare EC fans, adiabatic pads and a compressor VSD.

The datasheet PDF

The PDF is optional, up to 20 MB, and kept private to your firm. To open it later, select the entry and choose its file name beside Datasheet. Attaching a new file replaces it for the new version; earlier versions keep theirs.

Confirming the right to use the figures

Saving asks you to confirm your firm has the right to use the figures and the datasheet for its work. The entry shows under Rights confirmed that the engineer who saved it confirmed this, and when.

After saving

A new entry reads Not checked until someone other than the engineer who prepared it checks it: see Check and approve a library entry. To enter a whole range at once, see Import library entries from a spreadsheet.

Note

Reviewers can read and check the library but not add to it. Owners, admins and engineers add and edit entries.
