Reports are issued from one screen for the whole project: one row per station, the saved record each report is drawn from, and whether that record is up to date.
- 1
Choose the project to issue in System, at the top of the page. It becomes the selected system on every calculation page too.
- 2
Read down the ledger. Each row is a station, with the saved record its report is drawn from, when that record was saved, and its Status.
- 3
Tick Include on each station that goes in, then preview or download the whole set from the buttons at the foot of the ledger.
- 4
For one station's report on its own, open its row's Report menu and choose View to preview it, or Download to save it as a PDF.
- 5
On a refrigeration project, choose Email at the foot of the ledger to send the bundle to a client. See Email reports to your client.
On a refrigeration project the set is a bundle: Preview bundle and Download bundle. On an HVAC or hydronic project it is one document: Preview report and Download report, with no per-row menu.
Choosing the record
Where a station has more than one saved record, pick the one to report under Record. Each is named with the day it was saved, and the time as well when two were saved the same day. Heat Load offers all rooms, or one room on its own.
Choose a station's name in the ledger to open that station, with the same record where it has one.
What the status means
- Current: the record was saved at or after the system's last save.
- Stale: the record was saved before the system's last save. See Bring a stale report up to date.
- Reference: the Cycle row. It is the system itself, and the date every other record is judged against.
- Not judged: Heat Load rooms feed the system rather than read from it, so they are never judged. A record with no saved date also reads Not judged, with the reason.
- No results: the record was saved without results, so there is nothing to report. The reason says where to calculate it.
- None saved: nothing is saved at that station for this system.
The bundle
The bundle is one PDF: one report from each station you have included, each starting on a new page, behind a front page that lists them when there is more than one. The Cycle row is always in it, because the bundle is built on the Cycle report. The foot of the ledger says what the bundle holds, what is left out and why, and how many of its records are stale.
Pipe Layout's menu holds three reports, each with its own View and Download: the Engineering report, the Technician guide and the Tech schedule. The bundle carries the engineering report.
Comparing with another cycle
On the Cycle row, Compare with prints another saved cycle beside this one in the Cycle report and the bundle. Only cycles on the same refrigerant are offered, because two refrigerants don't share an enthalpy scale. A check or approval on the report still covers this design only, and the report says so.
HVAC and hydronic projects
An HVAC or hydronic project issues one document: the air side, then the water side for a project with water plant. A stale record is still printed and flagged, and a record saved without results is left out and named, in the ledger and in the document's own engineering checks.
When a report can't be made
The bundle, the Cycle report and the Pipe Layout reports are built on the system's cycle results. If the system has none, the page says so: open it in Cycle and recalculate. A Pipe Layout record also needs sizing on its own station before it can be reported.
If Kelvin can't make reports at all, see When reports can't be made.
Note
On Engineering Projects, a design's row menu has Report PDF, which downloads its Cycle report on its own.
