Build a room's heat load

Add each coolroom and freezer to the room ledger, describe it on its sheet, and save it, one room at a time.

Heat load and the cycle · For owners, admins and engineers · Updated 7 Oct 2026

Heat Load builds up the cooling load of every coolroom and freezer on a system, one room at a time. The rooms sit in the room ledger at the top. The selected room's sheet is on the left, and its plan and load tables are on the right.

  1. 1

Choose the system in System. Its cycle sets the suction groups a room can feed. With no system chosen, rooms are saved unassigned and can be moved onto a system later.

  2. 2

Choose Add room at the foot of the Room ledger, then choose the room's row to work on it.

  3. 3

Under Room, choose an Application preset, then enter the room's Length, Width and Height and its temperatures.

  4. 4

Under Identity, name the room in Room name, and check its Temperature class and Suction group.

  5. 5

Work down the rest of the sheet: Product, Cooling and freezing time, Internal loads and defrost and Sizing basis. On the right, draw the Room plan, then fill in Construction and adjacency and Doors and traffic.

  6. 6

Choose Save room. The version it replaces stays in the room's history.

The room ledger

  • Each row shows the room's Design load and Holding in kW, its class, its suction group and its Status: Saved, Unsaved changes or Unassigned.
  • The selected room shows its live figures, unsaved edits included. Every other room shows its figures as last saved, and the totals follow the same rule.
  • The foot totals each suction group, then All rooms. These are the figures Use in Cycle hands over.
  • The buttons at the end of a row move the room up or down, duplicate it, or delete it. Deleting a room deletes its saved versions too.
  • Two rooms with the same name are flagged, but saving them is still your call.

What a preset sets

An Application preset sets the room's set point and humidity, and the temperature class, electric defrost and product freezing that go with its temperature. Every one of them stays editable, and the sheet says when the set point no longer matches the preset.

Rooms are saved one at a time

Save room saves only the selected room. Choosing another row loads that room as it was saved, so changes you haven't saved to the room you leave are not kept. While there are any, the room's Status reads Unsaved changes.

Note

A new room starts from page defaults that have no cited source: its size, ground temperature, product and internal loads, and its ambient unless its project's location gives one. Replace each with the job's own figures before you issue anything.

Next: draw the room plan, set its construction and doors, then read its load build-up and send the loads to Cycle.
