Printable worksheets, a different set for every student
A class set of UEERA0036 worksheets: every student gets their own figures, the answer key gives every answer and its working, and each sheet’s code opens it online so a student can check their answers after class.

Questions
Your browser’s print dialog can also save them as a PDF, to keep this class set. Each sheet holds all 17 questions, about three pages.
Sheet 1, as it prints
Work each answer out from the readings and give it in the unit asked. Show your working in the space under each question.

The suction gauge on an R-32 system reads 9.4 bar g. What is the absolute pressure, in kPa abs?
Answer kPa abs - 2
The liquid line gauge on an R-449A system reads 2,146 kPa g. What is that in psi g?
Answer psi g - 3
R-1234yf is a single-component refrigerant. Its gauge reads 11 psi g. What is its saturation temperature, in °C?
Answer °C - 4
An idle R-717 system has stood at 32 °C long enough to settle. What should its gauge read, in kPa g?
Answer kPa g - 5
R-404A is a blend. Its suction gauge reads 581 kPa g. What is its dew point, in °C?
Answer °C - 6

Answer °C - 7
An R-1234yf system: the suction gauge reads 6 psi g and the suction line, at the evaporator outlet, reads −16.7 °C. What is the superheat, in K?
Answer K - 8
An R-410A system: the liquid line gauge reads 22.4 bar g and the liquid line, at the condenser outlet, reads 28.3 °C. What is the subcooling, in K?
Answer K - 9
An R-290 system's liquid line gauge reads 1,479 kPa g. What liquid line temperature gives 4 K of subcooling, in °C?
Answer °C - 10
On an R-1234yf system the suction gauge reads 246 kPa g at the evaporator outlet and 228 kPa g at the compressor. How far does the saturation temperature fall between the two, in K?
Answer K - 11
On an R-290 system the suction gauge reads 2.5 bar g at the evaporator outlet, where the suction line reads −6.1 °C, and 2.3 bar g at the compressor, where it reads 0.4 °C. How much superheat does the vapour gain between the two, in K?
Answer K - 12
R-455A at 54 psi g: what is its glide (the dew point less the bubble point), in K?
Answer K - 13
On an R-407C system the gauge reads 175 psi g where a probe on the pipe reads 25.2 °C. What state is the refrigerant in there?
- A Superheated vapour
- B Saturated: liquid and vapour can sit together
- C Subcooled liquid
- D Supercritical: above the critical point
- 14
R-407C is a zeotropic blend. At the suction pressure, which temperature is its superheat measured from?
- A The dew point
- B The liquid line temperature
- C Halfway between the bubble and dew points
- D The bubble point
- 15
R-449A is a zeotropic blend. At the liquid line pressure, which temperature is its subcooling measured from?
- A The bubble point
- B The suction line temperature
- C The dew point
- D Halfway between the bubble and dew points
- 16
The suction line reads colder than the dew point at the suction pressure, so the superheat works out negative. What does that point to?
- A Liquid may be reaching the suction line, or a reading or the refrigerant chosen is off
- B A blend always reads a negative superheat
- C The vapour is well superheated and the system is running normally
- D The liquid line is subcooled

A refrigeration gauge reads gauge pressure (kPa g). What is gauge pressure measured against?
- A The pressure of the air around it
- B The refrigerant's critical pressure
- C A perfect vacuum
- D The condensing pressure
How the codes work
A sheet’s code is its module, its questions and its figures, nothing else: typed into UEERA0036 practice, it draws the same questions again, and each one checked shows Kelvin’s answer and working. No names or answers are stored anywhere. Worked out in the browser. Nothing a student types is sent anywhere, and there are no accounts to make.
Open during the pilot
The practice module, the calculator and the P–T charts are free. Printable class sets are open while Kelvin pilots with TAFE classes; after the pilot, they come with an institute licence, along with the class space for handing in and marking.
Practice and teaching material
Practice and teaching material mapped to the unit's code. It isn't an RTO assessment tool: your assessment tools stay yours, and whether you use any of this as evidence is your call.
